Governments across the world make a lot of promises to their citizens to deliver a more prosperous, secure, healthy, educated and socially inclusive society. Some governments succeed in delivering their promises, while a majority fail to keep to their promises and often get booted out of power by an angry electorate. The reasons for their failure can be traced to a good number of factors such as poor planning, stifling bureaucracy, inadequate resources, corruption, lack of delivery capacity, pursuit of personal interest as against public interest etc.
